FSC was the brainchild of Patrick Giles, who trained as a sushi chef under many of San Diego’s best culinary artists.

Patrick was born and raised in San Diego, and went to work on the fishing boats of Seaforth Sport Fishing at the early age of 15. He later trained under Big Mike of Hana Sushi, Kevin Saito of Station Sushi and Toshi San of Sushi Ota, and went on to work as head sushi chef for MARKET Restaurant and Bar.

I met Patrick at design school in the late 90s and he gave me my first surfing lesson a few years later. He is an accomplished artist and graphic designer, but never got into Web. So I jumped at the change to design and build the website for his new catering company in 2011. It was my first Bootstrap or Boilerplate project, and my last non-responsive website.

Sadly, that site was put out to pasture a few years ago, and Patrick has moved on to bigger and better things with his Sushi Florist project. I still love the design with the chopstick wrapper nav, the red, black and gold color scheme and the nori seaweed background. We were later able to adapt that design pretty effectively for FSC's business system.
